If you call me it will be because you do not have a large budget for web design. Why would you need to spend a lot on a website? It depends on what you want it to do. Most websites are merely like a glorified business card. You can say a lot more about your business than 2.5 x 3 inches.

But you need to understand your goals and what the difference between a web designer and web developer. Generally speaking a web designer will help you to collect the information needed to include in your pages. It is important to know that you are the author of your pages. Your web designer can help edit the content and keep you focused but not be the author.

The same is true for a web developer. The developer is also a programmer usually. He is expected to be able to add functionality beyond design and layout. The developer interacts with a database. You will find many examples that require developers on professional websites that require users to login to enable them to use special features like a forum or an event manager or maybe even a classified ads section.

I personally do a little developing but I will be honest I am a web designer and no longer specialize in programming.

There are several ways to get affordable hosting. The easiest way is free. All you need to pay is registration which is less that ten dollars a year. I can get you started for a very low start up cost if all you want is a business card website. The brochure website that does not need much more than a list of your services, examples of your work or even just a way to accept subscribers. I can get you started with my low fee plus as little as $10 a year.
